After 4 months and $3,000 unbudgeted dollars, we finally have a permit to build out our space.  We plan to get started right away and look to have a Grand Opening date to publish soon.  Thanks to everyone for their support throughout this challenging period.  We appreciate all the encouragement – it means the world to us!

So I was out and about in Kennesaw today in my facelogic gear (hat, bag and shirt) during Big Shanty Days which is an annual Spring festival.  There we lots of vendors hocking their wares – including my sister.  She runs a business called Lil’Lissy that does embroidering and other cute stuff.  She and some friends had their booth all set up and were enjoying themselves.  We had hoped to be far enough along to be able to be passing out grand opening material but no such luck.  In the meantime, check out Lissy and her stand…

A Little Progress April 20, 2008

For those of you who have driven by the spa location on Barrett Parkway, you may have noticed that there is a sign on the pylon out in front of the store that actually says facelogic.  At this point, its the little things that make me happy!  We might actually have a permit on Monday as well and if we do we will post a picture of the actual permit online (if only the validate its fabled existence – kinda like the Lockness moster).  In the meantime its the little things….

You’re my obsession!  Who do you want me to be to make you….well you know how the 80’s classic goes.  But by now you know I am obsessed with the Sue Devitt make-up line.  It is not only good for your skin it is beautiful in every way: the packaging, the presentation and the color offering.  Enter Exhibit A:

Look how purdy! The OCD in me loves the lines and how everything is so neat, tidy and matchy-matchy.  I can’t wait for everyone to experience the magic of Sue Devitt.  At facelogic Town Center, we offer a free make-up application with a facial when you spend the equivalent in product (a $35 value).

Mother’s Day is a little over a month away and its never too early to start thinking about getting mom something she REALLY wants (not what you think she might like).  Every mom loves some “me time” no matter how old her kids are.  But you don’t want to break the budget showing how much you love her now do you?

Problem solved!  At facelogic we offer an introductory facial at just 39 for mom’s first visit to the spa.  But if you want to go that extra mile and get mom a $75 gift card you will also a receive an extra $10 gift card with your purchase.

This promotion starts in April and will run through Mother’s Day on Sunday May 11th!

Anatomy of a Wrinkle April 7, 2008

It’s a Fact of Life: As we age, our skin thins and wrinkles gradually develop!  Trust me, I know! Your skin is made up of three layers. The thin protective layer, or epidermis, consists of rows of cells that resemble bricks in a wall. The middle layer, or dermis, contains connective tissue, sweat glands, nerves and cells that produce collagen. The base, or subcutaneous layer, is composed of connective tissue and fat tissue. So what triggers a wrinkle?  A couple of things including: Ultraviolet (UV) Rays from the sun injure the epidermis and dermis, causing their structures to weaken.  Also, free radicals, highly reactive molecules created by factors like smoking, caffeine (ugh – so painful for us Starbucks lovers) and UV rays, damage skin cells. Lastly, facial expressions trigger small temporary folds in the skin to form where our muscles move. As we age, the underlying collagen develops a memory of each crease.  Aging causes the epidermis to thin and the connective tissue to weaken. Ugh so what’s a thirty something girl to do? Take preventative measures: 1.) Be smart about skin care. Use products with active ingredients that have been scientifically proven to work. (At facelogic, we love the Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Serum) 2.) Therapeutic Facial Treatments. Receive facials that incorporate products and methods that help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. A monthly facial with facelogic’s unique monthly membership program is a GREAT way to start!

It’s warm! Thank goodness for that.  We had a long cold winter (well longer and colder than I liked) by Atlanta standards.  And now I am so excited the seasons are changing.  Spring offers some new looks as mentioned before so check out yet another “New for Spring” look from Sue Devitt…..

I love it!  It is fresh, clean and neutral (it will work on all skin types and shades).  Thanks go out again to Sabrina Pena at Sue Devitt make-up artist extraordinaire.

Coming Soon…Sorta! April 2, 2008

As promised, I am penning a short update on our build out status for everyone.  We continue to not have a building permit despite several trips to the City of Kennesaw Building permit office.  We are now going to have to upgrade the HVAC unit to meet code for “salons” (again even though we are not a salon – ugh).  I should know by the end of next week what our proposed opening date will be and I will post it here.  Needless to say it is no longer April 30th. In the meantime, you can enjoy the soon to be opened Dagwood’s Sandwich Shoppe and the Dunkin’ Donuts right nextdoor.  Or feel free to gaze at the lovely banner….
